Make Polluters Pay Massachusetts is proud to announce the finalization of the Applied Economics Clinic report about the impacts of a Climate Change Superfund in the Commonwealth. The report was prepared by the Applied Economics Clinic (AEC) with assistance from Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) researchers. This report highlights various benefits to adapting Climate Change Superfund legislation in the state such as:
-
Spending $1 billion per year on adaptation projects will create 7,650 jobs per year with an average labor income of $81,380.
-
Saving the average Massachusetts household $1,330 in Income Tax Yearly through the $1 billion in climate adaptation projects.
-
In establishing the Climate Change Superfund the Commonwealth would see lower expenditures, reducing the amount of revenue needed for the Commonwealth to continue operating at its current levels.
We are grateful for the AEC and PERI, for their continued support and work on this project. We look forward to presenting this information to legislators, stakeholders, and citizens of the Commonwealth as we continue to make polluters pay for their climate damages.
